We will meet in San Sebastian, and you will go with our guide/driver to Albaola. This experience is a proposition to get to know our cultural and gastronomic heritage! In the 16th century our fishermen and sailors used to make long expeditions to Newfoundland in search of whales and cod. The favorite drink of these sailors was cider, indeed, each sailor drank no less than 3 liters of cider a day! Most of the cider from Basque farmhouse cellars/presses was supplied to these expeditions. You can get to know first-hand the reconstruction of the 16th-century whaling ship San Juan, sunk in the cold waters of Canada. The drawings of the ship go back to its origins, and it will soon set sail again for the Canadian waters it visited centuries ago. After traveling to the origine of the Basque cider culture we will visit a local cider house and enjoy different ciders and the traditional cider house menu. After lunch, our guide will drive you back to the meeting point.

We will meet at the agreed meeting point in San Sebastián and then go to the Albaola sea museum in the municipality of Pasaia. There, you will see how a XVI. century whale ship is built manually in the ancient way. Later we will make a guided visit to a cider house and we will taste the natural Basque cider and the traditional meal. At the end, we will return back to the meeting point.
